The Ruins of Tradition
Synopsis
By proposing in this work a study on the Casa da Torre de Garcia d'Ávila, its author, Ângelo Emílio da Silva Pessoa, establishes a dialectic of two elements of historical temporality, tradition and ruins, first focusing on historical-historical persistences (tradition) to later carry out an inversion movement, addressing discontinuities (the “ruins”). Tradition is based on continuity, permanence, duration. Literally in Latin, "what goes on". Perre Bourdieu1 says that what we assume to be eternal is the product of a long process of eternalization.
