Primas: Portraits of Female Prostitution in Paraíba
Synopsis
The album “Primas” was conceived as a way to give a return to the research “In the Traps of Desire”, carried out between 2011 and 2012, for women interviewed in rural and indigenous areas in Paraíba (in the North Coast and Brejo Paraibano). They are young and adult women, up to 40 years old, from different origins, regions and social classes, who started prostitution in adolescence.
Cousins and girls who work and live on the track, in bars, in rivers, in rooms, in motels, in the woods, on the asphalt. The research had the participation of students and teachers, researchers from various areas of human sciences at the Federal University of Paraíba, and aimed to show prostitution as a mobility project that is done and undone , permeated by risky practices, maintenance of the lived and dreams, money and doubt, violence and affections.
