Light and shadow: imaginary meanings in German expressionist cinema photography

FotografiaSynopsis
Whoever thought that cinema photography would be restricted to the basic triad - “attack, compensation, backlight” - will be delighted with this work by Bertrand Lira that brings a new effect on the cinematographic photography optics.
The work turns - based on the cinema school chosen by the author, German Expressionism, which mixes literature, painting, theater and cinema at the beginning of the 20th century - to show us the subjectivity and preciousness behind cinema photographs. From this, Bertrand Lira again molds critical thinking with innovative ideas through the analysis of a representative film repertoire, using all the techniques of light and shadow that can be obtained through the German school and based on a study on one of the most relevant expressionist filmmakers within this context, Fritz Lang.
