PUBLIC SPENDING:: AN ANALYSIS OF THE QUALITY OF FINANCIAL EXPENDITURE PRACTICED BY PUBLIC AGENTS.

Synopsis

“There is no public money, there is only taxpayers' money”, with this famous phrase, taken from a famous 1983 speech by the former British Prime Minister to Margaret Thatcher, we can begin the presentation of this collection. As it is a work that is based on discussing Public Spending, nothing more appropriate and timely than “drinking” from this source to debate the findings of the investigations that will be presented from now on. With the concern of understanding some public expenditures, especially in the area of ​​health, an investigation was carried out aimed at spending on the acquisition of medicines and pharmaceutical inputs in the micro-region of Cariri Ocidental of Paraíba. Here we find interesting results about the municipalities that have a concentration of resources, in contrast to other more needy ones. Working in a broader way, the reader will find an article that makes an analysis of the destination of the spending proposals with parliamentary amendments, made available to federal and state deputies and senators of Paraíba. A careful reading will show that there was a greater concern with the areas of health and social assistance, in the two spheres of power. In a complementary way, we have another study that found a decrease in the number of proposals made by congressmen from Paraíba in 2020, compared to the previous year, however, for the areas of health and social assistance, the volume of resources was higher, translated into an increase in over forty percent. In another research, we have a study on the factors that influenced daily expenses by the Municipal Councils of the state of Paraíba, in 2019 and 2020. Two municipalities were evidenced by this practice of using public resources. And, with a broader approach to the good use of taxpayer money, we have a survey linking the effect of corruption with economic prosperity in the period between 2012-2020. This study brings interesting and surprising results and encourages careful reading.
